August 18, 2015
St. Joseph's Oratory - Cathedral of Marie-Reine-du-Monde

The Oldest Form of Tourism

Religious tourism is as old as humankind. From making various religious pilgrimages to visiting holy places for healing, blessing or just the experience; this type of travelling remains one of the most common. With the religious views of people ever widening and expanding, many people have a deep appreciation for holy places. Whether it's the architecture that often accompanies such locations or the heritage value; visiting the local religious attractions is a wonderful way to learn about the history of a place, as well as the people. It really connects you to the heart of where you’re visiting. And, if you are religious, it’s a great place to go pray! From our hotels near Ste. Catherines Street you can easily access many of Montreal’s most famous and beloved religious sites.

Other Types of Religious Tourism

Religious tourism also includes the many travellers who travel to attend religious conferences or gatherings, to do missionary work, to go on various outreach programs and perform other religious fieldwork. Montreal is a great place to host religious gatherings and conferences due to the beautiful location, its varied religious backgrounds as well as the many great downtown Montreal hotels and conference centres that can host your gathering. You can also easily accommodate any religious requirements here, such as a kosher menu, specialty religious foods and items through the many niche shops in Montreal that sell various religious materials. If you’re looking to host a conference or gathering, book your event in one of our downtown Montreal hotels. We can affordably accommodate you.
