May 20, 2014
Montreal Museum of Fine Arts - Collection of decorative arts

Montreal is waking up for summer! Although winter can be long, there is never a shortage in our city when it comes to arts and culture. All year long you’ll find many attractions for art lovers or culture seekers. From multiple art installations and exhibits to incredible performances, you’ll find lots to see and do in Montreal. Heres a few upcoming things not to miss later this spring:

Cirque du Soleil’s KURIOS

Cirque du Soleil is one of Montreal’s greatest and most famous band of world-renowned performers. Their brand new performance–Kurios–had its world premiere performance earlier this spring in Montreal. If you didn’t catch the premier, you won’t want to miss out on seeing this one! These rooftop-arial-acrobats are sure to take your breath away with a bevy of wild and free stunts. Not to mention the amazing costumes and sets that the Cirque du Soliel is known for. Playing in the Old Port location (Jacques Cartier Pier), under the beloved blue and yellow tent, Kurios will run in Montreal until July 13th this year. Just a short walk from Old Montreal, this location is a delight to visit day and night. Add to that a spectacular show from Cirque du Soleil and you’ve got a night to remember!

Montreal Country Festival

Taking place from June 27th to 29th, this country/western festival will have you tappin’ your toes in no time! Boasting a great line-up this year with some of Quebec’s best known country artists, this is the sure-fire way to get a taste of country/western Quebecois style! Head over to the Montreal Country website to find out ticket prices, buy tickets and find more details.

Montreal International Musical Competition

Taking place from May 26th to June 6th, the Montreal International Musical Competition will be highlighting some of our amazing local talents, as well as many distinguished guests from all around the world. These 24 young and extremely talented pianists will take the stage during the course of the two-week competition. The quarter final round is May 26th to 28th, semi-finals May 30th & 31st at the Bourgie Hall in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The final round takes place June 3rd & 4th with the Gala being held June 6th at the Maison Symphonique de Montreal along with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero. If you love piano, don’t miss this one!
